Barrie-
I have worked on, converted and parted out a number of these
sets.Really, the only thing short of actually using one on 144 AM is to
utilize the cavity in an amplifier project. The set uses low level
modulation { modulates a low-level transistor stage} and linear amplifies
it. It has a coaxial based tetrode { RCA 6816} as a driver in the cavity.
I have used the transistor osc./ mult modules as local osc. in homebrew
VHF/UHF converters. The TV-36 was VHF, and by swapping modules and actuating
the bandswitch lever on cavity, the set became a TU-9 UHF set. I believe the
nameplate reverses { look on backside of TV-36 nameplate}. I do have manuals
for these. CUL, Byron.
I like to work with old CAA / FAA stuff, use some on 144 AM.
