Sorry you didn't get the Meissner.   I remember these from the Allied Radio 
catalogs of the 40s and 50s.   Believe the earlier versions had two tubes and 
the tubes and plug-in coils cost extra.   Could never afford own one in those 
days and ended up building similar sets out of junk parts.   They must have 
sold a bunch of them but they rarely turn up for sale.   Don't recall ever 
seeing 
one at a flea market and have never run across one on eBay.   Surprising.

Any more words from Riley or elsewhere on the 3870 situation?
