Hi Dennis,
I built a Meissner regen back in 7th grade and tried to demo it in science
class but could not get any reception with the little length of wire that I
had. I grounded it to the sink there but it might not have been a good
ground.
Actually, it might have been a 2 tuber. It was the first radio in the
Meissner catalog (with the orange cover). We purchased it at Lafayette
Radio - off Canal st. in Manhattan. I used it on the local BC band but
never made or bought another plug in coil for the SW bands.
I have another tape almost ready to go to Riley. I have to do it in the
office between patients because that is the only place where I have a
cassette tape setup for easy go back, listen and then go forward and gentle
enough so it won't eat the tape.
I heard while monitoring on Friday evening that Sammy (W5DPP) had been
nailed by an OO and also the FCC for "Unsuitable Language" on 2 meter SSB
and I think HF as well. They were pissing and moaning about it; so they are
being watched. We better be careful on our side - what we say and do.
There are 2 guys in Tucson in their group, KB7AZ (Roger) who is part of the
"WarZone " group on 7.258 and KD7HVL (Frank). Roger ran Ken, CJA off 3.870
in the AM mode last Monday night. I could hear the Texas group and Ken
calling CQ. The Texas guys could barely copy CA but this Roger (who wasn't
in QSO) jumped in and told him the freq was busy. I had been monitoring for
1/2 hr so I know Roger hadn't been on.
I heard Frank last night trying to sell Henry (W5HHW) a beeeeg XFMR. Henry
is a big power AMP constructor. He is presently working on a GU5B amp (2500W
Plate) for himself and just built an RF deck with that tube for W7KO. I
have that on tape about to go to Riley.
