I just use a general-purpose oscilloscope. The "RF sampler" is a length of
RG-174 with about 3/4" of the shield removed from one end & then stuck
through a cabinet hole near the PA in my Valiant. The resulting capacitive probe works fine & is cheap to boot.

Almost any old scope will work that doesn't billow smoke when you turn it
on. Heath, Eico, Paco, a no name flea market treasure, and all the way to
the whiz Tek and HP models. Some RF sampling into the vertical plates and
you're in business.

I would like to get a good but not too expensive scope to monitor modulation on my Valiant and Ranger. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
