I chose 500 ohms because I could calculate the change in my head. 450 or 600 would wouk as well. A 1/4 wave length for 80 meters is 60 ft. Any 1/4 wave transmission line attached to a load that is greater than the characteristic Z of the line will transform the Z that as seen by the source to a lower value than the load. Depending on the SWR represendted on the the 1/4 wave line.
