Carrier current radio was the topic of a neat story in the Oct. 2007 issue of Popular Communications magazine called "The Carrier Current Ghost". A BC band dx-er in Rhode Island who recently returned to the hobby noticed this consistent unmodulated carrier on 580 khz. He was able to narrow down the signal to his immediate neighborhood, which included the former Barrington College, home of WBCW, a student-run carrier current radio station on - - 580 khz! Turns out that one of the two transmitters was tucked up behind a basement partion and still going strong even though the station had been off the air for years.
