You can certainly look at the sun terminator line on the map.  If the entire
visibility circle of the satellite on the earth is on the dark side
of the terminator, the satellite is in eclipse.    But I also remember
seeing a little legend somewhere on the screen that says "Satellite is in
eclipse" or something like that when it is.
