Isn't ubuntu and diabian basically the same thing? :P From what I read ubuntu 
just takes a snapsho of debian unstable repo and make it stable with few of 
their own tweaks.

I use opera under kubuntu too and it's the 9.00 version and dosn't fail me at 
all. Ubuntu also has a repo for commecrial applications where you can find 
opera so it's easy to install too.
