I'd say a branch, yeah, that would be a good idea.. I wonder what Tom

we don't want to create another branch like 0.96 and 0.97 where we had to
backport everything, but only have a single
branch for the tkhtml version, and every once in a while (once a week or
month) do a merge from the trunk to that branch
so that branch gets all the changes, but the tkhtml change stays in that
branch.. then once it's done, we can merge that
branch to the trunk, and since we did incremental merges, the differences
will be small and we'll only get the tkhtml
changes (otherwise we might get a lot of conflicts)..

That sounds good - I'm not sure if I'll have the time to do much work on it
though, maybe over Christmas.. other changes that I'd want to make would be
adding GUI and protocol events, but I dunno if this is going to be done
sometime else? (using telepathy?) Because I want it to be like:
1. User types a message and presses send.
2. GUI event "MessageSent" fires.
3. Protocol is alerted to this event and sends the message to the other
person.
4. Protocol confirms delivery then fires the 'MessageDelivered' event.
5. GUI is alerted to this event and adds the message to the chat history.

etc etc, working for other stuff too like on the CL, moving contacts from
group to group, etc.

Would that be another suitable thing to work on in that branch, or is that
planned some other way?
