OK, yes, you were right. I fired up 2 aMSN instances and set the color slider to a very small value (303) on the testaccount. The other one immediately set color to 256, not 303. I closed the testaccount, set it back to a decent value on the normal account, then started the testaccount again, it had more or less the decent value set. The visual effect corresponded to the slider value.
