The term pageview comes from the advertisers community : this is how they
count the effectiveness of an advertising in a paper journal. This means
what it says "the number of views of a page". So if 1000 persons view the
page 1 time, this counts for 1000 pageviews, and if 1 person views it 1000
time this is also 1000 pageviews, even we can guess he doesn't view anything
more after 2nd or 3rd view...
On the Web, adverstisers count pageviews by counting relevant information
(normally) :
If a HTML file incorporates images which are not needed to the
comprehension/whatsoever just count the HTML file request
If another HTML file needs is incorporated images not to be meanless (uh?)
you normally have to count 1 pageview for each complete request (HTML and
image files) and 0 for partial. I guess this is never done this way.
If you have ad banners, just count the request of this ads.
So pageviews can refer to analog's page requests.
If you had ad banners just count them separately...
