I have analog working ok, but was wondering about a couple of things.
My MS IIS server is saving it in "standard" format. Does it matter? I do
have an option to save it in NCSA format.
Also, Analog 3.11 does have the section about MS IIS logfiles. It says to
use MICROSOFT-NA. It also says
"There are also various third party extensions to the Microsoft format to
include, for example, the browser and referrer. Analog can't automatically
diagnose these: you need to write a logformat string for them."
Here is where I get stuck. I'm afraid the explanation for writing these
lines is not clear enough for a non programmer. The indiscriminate use of
%j for junk doesn't make sense to me. How do you know what to identify as
junk? Why is W3SVC = W3SVC%J ? Why the junk? Sometimes it looks like a
dash is equal to a separator and sometimes as junk.
An example of my log file.
