With Analog 3.3 on a FreeBSD box, I'm getting bad data
for the Monthly Report.

Analog runs weekly. It reads 1 week's worth of log files
plus any number of cache files.

Here is an example of the problem:

The Aug. 26 report shows:
Jun 1999: 16258304: 10155264:
Jul 1999: 1144052: 591744:
Aug 1999: 62339: 33622:

The next report, September 2, shows:
Jun 1999: 32516608: 20310528:
Jul 1999: 2288104: 1183488:
Aug 1999: 122105: 65393:
Sep 1999: 1949: 866:

Previous months are getting bigger by nearly a factor of 2,
with every report. Somehow I guess the cache lines are
combining ? This is probably a configuration error.

Here are the cache and output options from our own .cfg file:

LOGFILE /home/site/public_html/httpd_access.*
CACHEFILE /home/site/public_html/stats/cached/cache_*
CACHEOUTFILE /home/site/public_html/stats/cached/cache_%Y%M%D
OUTFILE /home/site/public_html/stats/%Y%M%D.html

I can confirm that there are only ever 7 httpd_access.* files
(as specified in the LOGFILE line). Those files are rolled
nightly by our ISP and that systemm is configured to only
save 7 days' worth.

Here is the contents of the CACHEFILE directory:

-rw------- 1 214686 Jun 14 17:04 cache_19990614
-rw------- 1 285921 Jun 17 05:15 cache_19990617
-rw------- 1 409109 Jun 24 05:15 cache_19990624
-rw------- 1 523627 Jul 1 05:15 cache_19990701
-rw------- 1 631091 Jul 8 05:15 cache_19990708
-rw------- 1 729594 Jul 15 05:15 cache_19990715
-rw------- 1 827109 Jul 22 05:15 cache_19990722
-rw------- 1 919570 Jul 29 05:15 cache_19990729
-rw------- 1 1018294 Aug 5 05:15 cache_19990805
-rw------- 1 1118326 Aug 12 05:15 cache_19990812
-rw------- 1 1213714 Aug 19 05:15 cache_19990819
-rw------- 1 1318409 Aug 26 05:15 cache_19990826
-rw------- 1 1424473 Sep 2 05:15 cache_19990902

The cache files are getting bigger, even though our site
traffic isn't necessarily growing. Is it possible that
each new cache file contains all the previous cache data
too ?

Should the CACHEFILE line be limited to a single file,
rather than to the whole collection ?
