Your diagnosis is spot on. Your commands say: take the recent logfiles, and
all historical cache files, and make a new cache file and an output file. So
each cache file contains the old ones.
The (or I should say, a) safe method is in docs/cache.html. Make a cache
file from the logfiles only. Then make an output file from all the old cache
files.
