I use W3C Extended, but by default, IIS4 doesn't include the date when
logging in W3C Extended format, and Analog requires a date on each
line. (For daily logs, the date field is redundant, but IIS4 doesn't
log the date even for weekly or monthly logs, which can cause a
problem!)
I usually log the Date, Time, IP address, Username, Method, URI Stem,
Status, Bytes Sent, and sometimes the Referer (sic). My Log file
includes this header line:
#Fields: date time c-ip cs-username cs-method cs-uri-stem sc-status sc-
bytes cs(Referer)
Analog recognizes these log files automatically, without any need to
specify a LOGFORMAT.

Can you kindly share your experience with me?
I am running Analog v 3.32 on NT.
Analog doesn't seem to be able to read any MS IIS v4 webserver logs
regardless of the LOGFORMAT specified in analog.cfg and the logging
format
used in MS IIS v4.
If I set the MS IIS v4 server to W3C Extended and the LOGFORMAT to W3C
in
analog.cfg, we get the "try a different LOGFORMAT" error mssg.
If I set the MS IIS v4 server to log using the MS IIS format and the
LOGFORMAT to MICROSOFT-NA in analog.cfg, we get the "try a different
LOGFORMAT" error mssg.
If I set the MS IIS v4 server to NCSA Common and don't set LOGFORMAT in
analog.cfg, I get an empty report.
We need to get the correct LOGFORMAT to create reports from MS IIS v4
web
server logs.
As you already know, MS IIS v4 can produces webserver logs is a variety
of
formats:
1. W3C Extended
2. MS IIS
3. NCSA Common
What is the best combination of server setting and Analog.cfg settings
to
produce a report from MS IISv4 webserver logfiles? Please advise. Thank
you.
