I was the poster of the previous thread. The problem proved to be with the
gcc compiler on PPC Linux (mklinux pre-R1 and LinuxPPC 1999x, with glibc
2.x). Currently there is no version of gcc under glibc 2.x that compiles
analog properly. The developers of gcc for ppc linux are aware of the
problem. I tried reverting to egcs, but never got all the dependencies of
gcc undone.
