Yes, you just want to use the actual filename. In this case
  LOGFILE old_access_log.1999Dec.gz

As this is a gzipped logfile, you also either need a gzip program on your
machine to uncompress them, and an UNCOMPRESS command in your configuration
file to tell analog how to find gzip; or (probably easier at first if you've
got enough disk space) uncompress the logfile before analog sees it.

Actually it doesn't matter. If it was in another folder you could use a
command like
  LOGFILE "\another folder\logfile.log"
or
  LOGFILE "D:\folder on drive d\logfile.log"

By the way, another way to run analog, which allows you to see the error
messages, is to open the DOS command prompt from the Start menu, cd to the
right folder, and then type analog. That way the DOS window stays open, so
you can read what went wrong.
