What is linux?

Linux doesn't exist, it's just a kernel.

What does exist are the different distributions, like Red Hat, Debian,
Mandrake, etc. But I'm sure you know that :-)

Thus, ask them .... like, is the analog rpm on the Red Hat install disk (I mean
the extra rpm's install).

I personally don't want analog in the base install --> too much bloat.

If I want a program, then I will install it myself, that is the concept with
FreeBSD and OpenBSD.
