Jim -
I'm running Analog 4.0 on Red Hat Linux 5.0 with several virtual hosts.
The basic config file that comes with the distribution worked fine for
me, I just added/deleted the report options that were required.
The only bit that stumped me for a while was getting the referrer
details out of APACHELOGFORMAT but thanks to the people on this list I
resolved that.
I have a different config file for each virtual host and have a little
shell script that runs them via cron.daily, so each of my virtual hosts
gets a daily stats update they can amuse themselves with.
Other than that, Analog has to be one of the easiest packages that I've
had to compile and install on my box.
And yes, it was my first time too!
