Hi,
we have just set up a new redhat server (6.2) and am having problems with
crontab:

In solaris I would log on as root:

VI a .txt file and call it analog.txt for example
containing

# ProcessAnalog stats each day at 1:00 a.m.
0 1 * * * /usr/bin/analog

Then 'crontab analog.txt'

However when I 'crontab -l' I get the following message

[root@ns cron.d]# crontab -l
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE - edit the master and reinstall.
# (analogcron.txt installed on Tue Aug 29 10:01:49 2000)
# (Cron version -- $Id: crontab.c,v 2.13 1994/01/17 03:20:37 vixie Exp $)
# ProcessAnalog stats each day at 1:00 a.m.
0 1 * * * /usr/bin/analog

What does the # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE - edit the master and reinstall. mean?

I see that there are directories in /etc such as cron.daily cron weekly do I
need to place my analog crontabs in there instead? What is the syntax of the
files I need to place there? SH scripts? I also see there is a directory calees
/etc/cron.d what is it's function?

Thanks

 DC
