Simon,
It's natural that lots of addresses are unresolvable, although 95% seems a
little high (unless they're all from one host!) But there's a program
called jdresolve on the Helper Applications page which will invent a domain
name for hosts it can't resolve, based on resolving the parent domain. It
sounds like that might be what you want.
