I Debian version numbers work the same as Linux kernal version numbers,
anything ending in an odd number is development, and anything ending in even
is finalized

(stable) and (development) for Debian distributions refer to the
package, not the content of the package. It just means the the "Debian
Council" has not approved 5.x to be included in a stable distribution of
Debian.
I wonder where the 5.02 code came from though, since 5.01 was the last
release....

Analog has to be the easiest program to build. Just type 'make' and it
will build on your system. (Of course you may want to edit anlghead.h
first.)
