I'm using LOGFORMAT AUTO. Does that mean all requests in non-Apache
format are expliitly excluded?

I note that each day's Failed Requests are approximately the same as
(slightly less than) the day's incremental unwanted logfile entries.

Yes, due to the size of the log with failing/unwanted entries I have
been rotating it twice a month (on my virtual server, where I am now
running analog on their time, -12 minutes, on the original log, since
it's too cumbersome, now with all the garbage, to run the
cron-emailed - now,in 6 Mac/Eudora sections - daily log off-line on
my desktop for the usual 10 second run).
