note: better title for easier threading I am wondering if anyone has dealt with/resolved this problem with apache/tomcat logs.
We have multiple webservers but one of them is Apache with Tomcat installed using the Velocity rendering template. Reporting the logs is proving to be problematic with all the jsessions and redirects (each actual request seems to have several loglines related to the single request). Some of the actual requests do not show up as requests at all but in the referrals section. Example on: http://www.churchcentral.com In the right top corner is a banner with the link http://www.churchcentral.com/cgi-bin/adserver.pl?AdNumber=6382 clicking on it (ie a clickthru) takes you to http://www.churchcentral.com/nw/s/template/ASPGuide.html That clickthru generates a logline (presumably with a 302 status code) which shows up in referrals. This make reporting a pain as certain request numbers for the internal site have to pulled from 2 different sections of the analog reports (not its fault). One thing we are trying to do is to one way or another mirror the results that we got when we ran WebTrends Enterprise on the logs (that piece of bloated cpu-power drain got scrapped). its proving problematic and I know it has to do with Jakarta/Tomcat but I cannot find a FAQ anywhere on how in the heck a sane person can get some sane results reporting it. Any help (or bullet to the head...) appreciated...
