This is what the Analog cache files are for (see
http://analog.cx/docs/cache.html). You can create a cache file for
each day's results and then write reports by reading in the cache
files. This will certainly improve performance. It may or may not help
memory problems.
we are doing - Ever wonder where "Please listen carefully as our menu
has changed." comes from? Vox files. And on our systems a 5 digit count
of vox files that have to be served up in "parts of a second". And of course
there's the feedback data from the call, the time, switch(s) it went thru, the
vox's used, the db lookups, the, the the the the............ And the method
selected to move this data was port 80 using Apache and the GET/PUT
machinery. [ no web pages were used in the commission of any calls ; -) ]
A one day, _one_ computer example could have 160,000 PUT's and 325,000 GET's.
So the Analog display of a "standard" web site really doesn't apply - but
with our "draw outside the lines", Analog does give us a picture of system
health, usage etc. ie: the display..... 7 8 7 6 8 7 2 8 7 7 8 8 8 tells me system
#7 has a problem and Analog should be able to frontend the string. One problem is a "snapshot", ie 1 day, doesn't mean much. So ...
a Gb here, a Gb there, pretty soon we're talk'n real storage ......
I'll keep you aprised of how it goes.
Chuck
Oh, almost forgot to ask - Analog seems to report ONLY GET's and not PUT's ...... inquiring minds and all that :-/
