On 14 Jan John Stokes asked how to enter cron instructions in the analog.cfg file for analog5.22 that would run analog at 11:59 PM each day for the access_log of the day just completed - instead of, as heretofore, manually entering

     FROM yymmdd
     TO yymmdd

updated, for each day prior to 11:59 PM.

On 15 Jan Duke Hillard suggested:

The following works, but you would need to enter it manually daily.

where y=year, m=month, d=date, h=hour, m=minute

 00 18 * * * ~/usr/local/analog/analog +Fyymmdd:hhmm +Tyymmdd:hhmm
 or
 00 18 * * * ~/usr/local/analog/analog +Fyymmdd +Tyymmdd

(I'm already getting the same result updating daily the simpler yymmdd in both FROM and TO at 6 PM, which self starts at each following 11:59 PM/)

It might be better to modify the daily 11:59 p.m. cron job one time.

 59 23 * * * ~/usr/local/analog/analog +F-00-00-00
 or
 59 23 * * * ~/usr/local/analog/analog +F-00-00-00:-24+01

(As mentioned, I have no cron job at present - as the daily 6 PM yymmdd analog.cfg entries self-start at the following 11:59 PM.)

The following area in the documentation contains useful information:
 http://www.analog.cx/docs/include.html#FROMTO

After reading the suggested section of the Include html doc, I decided - for consistency with my VPS crons for other scripts - simply to enter the cron

* * * 23 59 ~/usr/local/analog/analog

in cronjobs

and then in analog.cfg

  FROM -00-00-00:-24+01
  # TO

(following the example in Include.html of how "each of the components can be preceded by + or - to represent time relative to the time at which the program was invoked...allowing constructions like

FROM -00-00-00:-06+01 # statistics for the last 6 hours )

Is there somewhere a fuller explanation, with examples, of how the + and - entries work? It seems to me that, as an alternative, some sort of + and - FROM and TO entries could be made, which, without daily updates, would be self-starting, like daily yymmdd entries - without accompanying cron job entry.

Thanks, all.
