Because every redirect is first a 302 or 301 and then a 200? It looks like there's a bit of communication gap here - it's not clear that everyone means the same thing by "symlink". Post a couple of lines from you logfile that aren't being interpreted the way you expect them to be, and we can probably explain why they are being interprted the way they are being interprted, and perhaps explain how to erconfigure things to get the answer that you expect.
