Title: Re: [analog-help] Running analog from Unix command line: Mac
Leonard,

I have edited analog.cfg to point to the correct location and it doesn’t appear to be picking up the config.  Is there another place where the LOGFILE directive should be edited?  Thanks for your help...

Bill,

I am not a Mac user, but I do have a bit of experience on Unix and the latest Mac is  based on that. I waited for a day to see if any of the Mac people would answer. I hope my knowledge of Unix carries over to the Mac for you.

Jason,

I just downloaded the Darwin version and installed it into the /tmp folder
in my home directory.  I've edited the analog.cfg folder as follows:

If you need a LOGFORMAT command (most people don't -- try it without
first!),
LOGFORMAT COMBINED
LOGFILE "MacintoshHD:Users:billkent:apachelogs:margatelogs:access_log"
# LOGFILE /Users/billkent/apachelogs/margatelogs/access_log
 OUTFILE "MacintoshHD:Library:Webserver:Documents:Report.html"
# HOSTNAME "Margate on the Beach"

I'm having it write out Report.html to my Documents folder where I can see
it on my website.  When I go into the /tmp/analog directory...it dumps out
the following in the window:

In Unix, the /tmp directory should not be used for anything that needs to remain around for over a day. If you are referring to the tmp directory in your home directory, then there is not a problem. You should the notation tmp/analog (note the missing leading '/').

Followed by what appears to be a line by line review of the analog config file. Not sure what to do, any help appreicated.

It appears that analog cannot find you Apache access log file. It is looking at /var/log/httpd/access_log.*. Check to make sure there really is a log file there and it is readable by analog (i.e., your account). If it's not there you will need to set the LOGFILE directive to point to the correct location.  The remainder of the messages are a result of not log records to analyze.
