At the same time, having _any_ text in the charts seems redundant. In general representing text as pictures is wrong, unless unavoidable.
In this particular case, the legends and descriptions can be given as text (of the appropriate color) instead of being part of the picture file. That way, final rendering of the text will be left to the user's software (web-browser, etc.), which knows much more about fonts, than analog needs to.
And this is exactly what happens if your output is not in one of the supported charsets.
