CustomLog /usr/local/apache/logs/access_log combined env=!dontlog
Do I issure the above on the command line? I tried it and it said that the event wasnt found. Its deffo on in the httpd.conf does this have to be in a particular place?

You also need to modify the virtual's CustomLog directive. Something like:
CustomLog /usr/local/apache/logs/access_log combined env=!dontlog
