When you run it from cron is it using a different configuration file or maybe even a different version of analog?

I am using RedHat Professional 9.0 You haven't really given us much information. Are you specifying a LOGFORMAT in your analog.cfg? The auto-detect message would indicate that you aren't. Have you tried specifying one? What about the error log - have you looked at it?
