Double check your permissions - if you can run it but cron can't then its
either not able to access the log due to permissions or it cannot find the
file.
Seeing as the analog.cfg file has the absolute path then I would check the
permissions of the logfile.

LOGFILE /var/log/httpd/access_log
The odd thing is that analog works if I run it manually, but bombs when
running as a cron job.

You haven't really given us much information. Are you specifying a
LOGFORMAT
in your analog.cfg? The auto-detect message would indicate that you
aren't.
Have you tried specifying one? What about the error log - have you
looked at
it?
