Thanks for responding so quickly, as I took another look at the error
messages and analog couldn't find my cfg file. When we moved from
linux to sun, the file locations changed. I have the cache files for
the past few years. I ran a directory report. I'll get back to you -
I'm having problems reading the output into excel, which is what the
client wants. I may need help with that. I want to run a few more
test with the data.

There isn't a "how-to" document for cache files. As with any aspect of
Analog, it's always a good idea to start simple, with a small logfile.
A very simple example is to create a cache file from the sample logfile
that comes with Analog:
First, create the cace file:
analog logfile.log +C"cacheoutfile cache1"
(this also creates the default Report.html).
Then run Analog against the cache file:
analog +C"cachefile cache1" +Ocache.html
If you look at cache.html (created from a cache file) and Report.html
(created from logfile.log), you'll see that they are basically the same
report, even though th cache file is less than one third the size of the
logfile.
