Looking at the Analog report headings:

Number of requests Number of page requests

it seems that the ratio of "Number of page requests" to "Number of
requests" (about 25%), is about the same as the ratio of Webalizer
"Visits" to "Hits" that I saw previously using Webalizer.

Therefore, I plan to use the "Number of page requests" as a proxy
for the "Visits" I previously used from Webalizer, for comparison
purposes.

"Page Requests" means exactly what it says - a request for a webpage (by default, a .htm or .html page). A Hit is any request, including images. If you have 3 images on each page, then 25% of the your "Requests" will be "Page Requests".

A "Page Request" would only be a good proxy for a "visit" if you have a 1 page website.
