I'm not sure the Archos is the best developer device for Android. AFAIK it still uses Android 1.5 and doesn't have the official market. I would suggest you the Motorola Droid/Milestone depending where you live. And there are still the rumours about the google phone from HTC that has been handed out to googlers. You may wait till this arrives, if ever.
