Attempting to flash to a Nexus 5x. I DL'd the source and ran the usual.

. build/envsetup.sh
lunch aosp_bullhead-eng
make -j8

It took about 4 hours on my 2013 MBP (8GB RAM, Quad Core i7). It stopped
after telling me it created system.img, but offered no error or success
message. I noticed something was funky when I didn't have a recovery.img or
boot.img file in my out directory. I figured a simple test would be to run
make again, and see if it actually recompiled anything. If the previous
build went smoothly, then no dependencies would have been changed since,
and no work would have been done.

It seems to be running a full build as we speak, suggesting that the
previous build was incomplete.

a) Is there a standard way to know if the build process was successful?
b) Is there a legitimate reason why there would be no recovery.img or
boot.img files in my out directory?
