I would expect a note of thanks from Google for all 1788 participants.

"Thanks for participating in Google ADC Phase I. We have selected the top 50
winners out of a total of 1788 applications. We would have liked to reward
each one of those 1788 teams ideally, but unfortunately must select only 50
winners. Glad you participated and thanks for your interest in Android. We
would love to have you back for ADC II. Thanks for all your hard work and
just to let you know Google will be behind you in your Android endeavors."

That's exactly what I would do.
