It has been a great experience for most of us being part of the Challenge which could be the biggest event since the entire mobile computing history. The 1,788 participants are a truly dream not only for Google but for all involved to see we've made the right choice (or at lease not the only sucker;-) by putting hundreds or even thousands of hours into the development. But when we all wake up tomorrow from this wonderful dream, there will be 1,738 souls with shuttered dreams one way or another. I for one have developed my application specific to Android platform which makes difficult to port to, say iPhone, and the fact that the market for our applications does not exist for at lease a few years. So I would ask Google's help to “salvage” our efforts for our as well as Google's benefit (these are merely friendly suggestions not demands;-)
1) Create a venture fund similar to iFund but specific for Android development. Anyone could submit their applications and reviewed by Google on a case by case basis. 2) Officially release a native Android runtime environment on a regular PC and other portable devices such as pocket PCs in place of an OS. It's especially attractive for these inexpensive ultra portables such as Asus EEE PC, Classroom, OLPC. It would be useful for us to release our Android applications at least to some early adapter types. This may even ignite the fire to dethrone Microsoft's OS domination, and complete google's own world domination process;-). The key word is "Officially", any hacking approaches would defeat the purpose. 3) Allocate 1,788 prototype Android phones (be it ugly or not) to each of the participants at cost or at discount. It's very important for us to keep our ideas in check with the real-world. I really want to stay, but I have a family to support. Any other ideas? -J --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Challenge" group.
