firstly i wanted to congratulate both the winners and non-winners.
it's amazing how much people have done in such a short amount of time
and the diversity of the projects is really something else.

i do think google should be applauded for taking such a chance as
well. it's not every-day that a company chucks $10M in the direction
of us developers - feels like most companies would rather forget us
instead - even-though we all know that it's really us that make or
break the platforms really...

anyway - i do wonder how google could make ADC-II better..

perhaps the biggest thing for me is that loads of developers really
did put in a lot of time and effort but didn't get much out of it so
far. people really want some kind of recognition for their work - for
their confidence/ego at least but also maybe to help them sell their
products/businesses or even to help win future consultancy work or
something.

maybe google could change the prizes to increase the number of
projects rewarded but with lower amounts as well - they still have $5M
to play with i think.. they could give some kind of 'founding
developer' status or even to send us one of those funky phones would
be cool.. if we all had one of the phones - i'm sure we could all do
so much more for google :-)

i'm not sure how google can encourage people to compete against those
that won in the first round as well. google should clearly encourage
the winners - but it's hard for everyone else to stomache putting in a
huge effort again just to lose again!

comments anyone?
