Hi! A first message to present my application. It is a game, and did not win, as you have seen, but it did not surprise me, as I started to work on it in the middle of March... The principle is very simple: using GMap and the GPS, you can participate to different treasure hunts. Using the clue, try to see where is the next chest, and tap close to it. If it appears, you can try to open it. A chest might be closed by one or several locks, and the locks are mini-games. The mini-games are very easy to add, so more should come soon (I simply reused one of my online game here, and create a small different version. Unfortunately, there is an issue with the touch position, an event latency I guess). When opened you access to the treasures. They might be a clue for the next chest, a text or a web-page.
Then, one of the most interesting aspect, not so present here, is that it will be possible for everyone to add its own chests and hunts, using the web page or the Android client (or other mobile phone's client, eventually). So you can use that for your children's birthday or to promote your shop. The use will be free for all non-commercial uses (including "small commercial uses", like the promotion of your local store, but not the "win a space shuttle" hunts). As I am not familiar with dynamic web, I used CakePHP to quickly get my online content, and it works rather well (all the content is online). But currently the player's progress is saved on the client, and it is not possible to add/edit content (from the web page it is, but it needs a lot of extra work). Well, I got these percentiles: Effective use: In the top 25% of all submitted applications Polish: In the 25th to 50th percentile of all submitted applications Indispensability: In the 50th to 75th percentile of all submitted applications Originality: In the 25th to 50th percentile of all submitted applications Overall: In the 25th to 50th percentile of all submitted applications And for something done in one month, I am quite happy. I guess my low score in Indispensability is strongly linked to the missing functionalities... Still it can be a very funny way to visit a city... You can see some screenshots and a video here: http://www.treasureschests.com/ If you are good with dynamic web and like the idea, you are welcome! Just contact me. And a big thank to plusminus for his tutorials (the Friend Finder just saved my life for the GPS use :) ) --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Challenge" group.
