It looks like nearly all the changes are additions other than
Service.setForeground() becoming a noop and problems with some devices
if you are processing key-down of the BACK button.  There are probably
some others.  I noticed in 1.6 lots (dozens, maybe hundreds) of low
level API changes that are not explained at all which makes me a
little nervous - extensive regression testing is called for certainly.

But sure there is the real world where apps are getting away with
things that are not supposed to work and where changes have side
effects not anticipated.

The main take away from this discussion for me is that good developer
relations are necessary for success of the platform.  You don't want
developers flaming new devices - even Microsoft could not manage the
bad PR around Vista.  So some process for getting developers
enthusiasm might be missing here - and this might be kind of a new
thing for Google to learn to do :-) - because really Google has to be
in the lead.
