It's accurate enough to steer a toy car on display by tilting device, but I would not use this sensor to deliver nuclear warhead ( there definitely better ones )
Of course you can write some filter, but it would be tricky because: - your sample times are not guaranted to be equal (android is not a realtime environment) - you get no more than about 100 samples per seconds - you get only 8 bit resolution over 16G
