Long story short, the carrier I use in Canada (Roger) has just
released their first phone with Android 2.1, and refuse to comply with
requests to update software for months (HTC Magic is running 1.5).

As I'd prefer to see an Up-to-date OS, and Unlocked boot-loader
available as well I am hoping vaguely that Google will release the HTC
Evo through the developer market. I'd hope to see this soon from
Google.

Also the device is gorgeous and it'd be kinda nice to get it carrier
un-locked.

So does anyone else think that this may become available.

(I am somewhat hesitant to buy from Brightstar due to some previous
posts about their abuse of devices sent for warranty).
