Hi everyone, a couple questions relating to the G1. I am a PhD student and am interested in picking up a G1, however I am wondering if you can buy the phone unlocked, and still get access to all of its features over wifi (eg the app store, etc), but without a voice/data/ 3g contract?
Secondly, I and my colleagues would like to do development on it, including recompiling the OS from scratch with modifications and flashing it onto the phone. Is this possible by an end user? And what features do you lose from flashing it that are not open source? (I would imagine everything relating to Tmobiles network, but what else?)
