The biggest challenge is probably understanding that Android is not J2ME. You need to understand the Android app model (which is highly structured and resembles more the iPhone model than J2ME boxes). If you know J2ME the actual executable language coding is simple, but you'll spend a lot of time understanding the resource model and layouts and the like.
