This is a common question and is probably due to confusion of what "app" really means. I think newbie Android developer's tend to think that an Android app is very much similar to a desktop application. If you can explain how they're different, you've made an important step out of newbiehood.
I suppose you mean that there's a process with your app's name that is still running after you press back. That is an unfortunate "feature" in the Android OS.
