Of course it would be best to obtain the current version number directly from the Market. Unfortunately, the Market does not reveal this information currently in a way that can be easily accessed by other applications.
Therefore we depend on the application's developer to provide a separate, up-to-date version file. The developer has the choice to use the version file created automatically at andappstore.com, or to provide their own version file on their own web-site, either as a three-line plain text file, or as an xml file in the VeeCheck format. If the version information is out-dated, it would be best to contact the respective application developer directly. Maintaining version files for all applications available on the Market is out of our limited scope. Also, OI Update does not require at all to download software from third party sites. The default download site is the Android Market. Only if no version file is available from the developer, but the application is hosted at an alternative place, the alternative place is suggested. There is no requirement to open your device to potentially dangerous software - just an additional warning is displayed.
