"Imprecise" is the word I'd use. :=) I had some text in there I appear to have dropped in simplifying my response, about "marketing dimensions" vs reality, and quick estimation. OVERSIMPLIFICATION FAIL!
It should have occurred to me to use the aspect ratio to allocate the four inches between vertical and horizontal. Fail again.
