Thanks for the quick reply. I've mailed the user and asked if he has PayPal and I'll try it that way - I've never used Paypal to transfer money this way before, so it's a learning experience for us all!
I guess the one thing to be aware of is that the user still has to be in a country where Google allows Market purchases and they have a valid Checkout account.
