Technical knowledge of phone users is much lower than desktops' so there'd' be much higher risk of them being 'pwnd' due to existence that mechanism. If you got no experience on i.e. hacking go and at least read a bit on that subject so you find out how clever such attacks could be. Or just recall Windows' autorun feature and (ab)use of it. Of course preventing app from being auto-launched on install or update is not all-for-one security solution (i.e. the way SD card access is granted to the apps is completelty insecure and wrong) but at least it's prevents some trickery from being easliy deployed.
